The Ben Abeba site

Ben Abeba sits on a hill on the outskirts of Lalibela. It is a 15 minute walk from the centre of the town.

Over the years, the trees on the hill have been cut down, and the wood sold. This has meant the virtual extinction of wild life on the site.

One of the aims of the project is to replant trees, and thus  helping to improve our future environment. This will encourage the wildlife to return to the area.

During July and August of 2009, 30,000 trees were planted on the hill and a team of 6 local men are employed full time to care for them.

We now have more than 50,000 trees at Ben Abeba which are beginning to produce our own fruit.
